We didn't wait for President Obama to tell us to reach out and do public service!  The CCCC has been active in supporting our community for years! It is one of our greatest sources of pride and pleasure to help others and volunteering is one of the activities our members seem to enjoy the most.

Below are some recent things we have done.  If you have any hankering to become involved or to propose new projects and spearhead carrying them out, you are most welcome to join and help us out!

PC Tune Ups

Members and non-members come to repair and tune up their computers for a nominal charge, with the aide of our experienced volunteers.

We do this about every 3 months.

Women's Week (Doing It Digitally)

The Women's Council of Greater Baton Rouge presented "Women! A Week-Long Celebration", from September 25 - October 4, 2009. Many organizations participated.  At CCCC, member Lori Main taught a "Do It Digitally" Class at our facility, Chandan Sharma taught "Where are my jpegs, the ABC's of Digital Images" (pictured below), and Mari Presedo gave a demonstration on "Viral Media and Social Networking -- Who's Tweeting Your Facebook".   These events were well attended and greatly enjoyed.

Community Fairs, etc.

Head Start Computer Project

In November 2009, CCCC and CACRC (Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council) formed a partnership to place computers in Head Start Programs across the state.  Computers donated to CACRC from various sources will be checked out by CCCC volunteers for functionality and minimum system requirements. New operating systems will be installed. Plans are to have approximately 185 computers ready for distribution by early 2010.  There are currently 20 CCCC members involved in the project.

Our facilities are at the corner of Red Oak Drive and Sharp Lane.
